BASICS OF CAREGIVING FOR FAMILY MEMBERS AT HOME (ELDERCARE) (JCC002) by CARE Concierge
Are you taking care of an elderly loved one at home? Would you like to learn the basic skills required to be an effective carer at home? This short half day course is particularly designed for family members to learn valuable skills, like lifting properly, ambulation, etc.
A majority of accidents for the elderly is attributed by falls that happen in the home. In this course we will teach you how to carry and move the elderly person properly so that both do not hurt or injure themselves. Learn communication techniques to deal with family members including scenarios, etc.
As a participant you will also get the support of membership as a jomCARE member, with many free articles, journals, apps and etc. to help you everyday.
Please note this is an introductory course and the subject matter taught is for basic purposes in the home environment only.
8 hours (9.00am to 5.00pm)
- Mobility – Safely transfer, lift, turn and assist the elderly
- Hygiene – Shower & bed bath techniques
- Medication – Administer & document
- Observation – Understanding physical & behavioural changes
- Vital signs – How to properly check Blood pressure, gluco-check & O2 saturation
Learning the skills to become a competent caregiver to care for the elderly
Able to provide ADLs (Activities of Daily Living)
